Individuals

The mission of the SPVM’s Information Division is to identify, document, evaluate, interpret and relay threats to public safety from the criminal activities of individuals and groups.

This division is able to provide police record checks and has established partnerships with external organizations for the purpose of issuing police clearances (certificates of good conduct).

Obtaining a pardon

  • Download our “Pardon Application Form” to find out about all the steps needing to be followed. Please note that the SPVM will only handle Montrealers's requests.

  • Fill out the form included in the National Parole Board’s Pardon Application Guide before contacting the SPVM to obtain a police record check.

Obtaining a certificate of good conduct or a judicial record check

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) does not issue certificates of good conduct or check judicial record for individuals. On the other hand, its Information Division works jointly with partner organizations and asks that you contact these organizations directly to obtain such a certificate or record check.

Positions located outside of Canada

Please note that, according to rules et by the RCMP, vulnerable sector checks can only be performed for positions located within Canada. Police agencies are not authorized to perform vulnerable sector checks for positions located outside of Canada. This rule applies even if the person will be working for a Canadian organization.
