Truckers

Pay attention to your behaviour on the road!

TruckersGoods transported by trucks are important, as they play a vital role in Montréal's economy.

The strategic location of Montréal this side of the Atlantic positions our city as a natural base for transatlantic traffic. The Port of Montréal, one of the most important on the east coast for container transport, is the cornerstone of international transportation including ships, trains and trucks.

June 1st , 2008, the moratorium in PECVL file (Law 430) was lifted, which allows  police officers to stop drivers who do not respect certain aspects of the Law (i.e.: driving hours).

The Commission des transports du Québec is responsible for the registration of Owners and Operators of Heavy Vehicles in regards to Law 430.

The Commission is also responsible for evaluating files on people who have displayed risky behaviour, and compelling them to correct their noted weakness. In serious cases, it can prohibit the operation or use of heavy vehicles.
