Inspecteur François Cayer
After 28 years of experience at the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, Inspector François Cayer was appointed chief of Poste de quartier 27 in February 2008. The wide variety of roles Inspector Cayer has played over the course of his career have given him extensive expertise and understanding of the realities of Montreal.
Commadant Cayer is originally from Sherbrooke, but he completed his policing technique studies at the Cégep de Maisonneuve, right in PDQ 23 territory. First assigned to be a patrouilleur in Saint-Henri, he then worked as an agent in Verdun, LaSalle and Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
In 1992, Mr. Cayer decided to take on new challenges, first as an enquêteur with the narcotics section and then for eight years in the technical section (SWAT team).
He then worked as superviseur de quartier in the stations in Pointe-Claire, Ville-Marie and the Plateau Mont-Royal, and served as lieutenant de quartier in Côte Saint-Luc and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
He went on to work as a coordonateur in the street gang section for West Region and was named commandant in May 2007. Just before accepting the position at the head of PDQ 23, Commandant Cayer worked at SPVM headquarters as cadre de service in the Division de la qualité des services.
