Commandant Martin Dea
After 20 years with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, Commandant Martin Dea was appointed chief of the Poste de quartier 5 on May 1, 2011.
Commandant Dea began his career as a patroller in what used to be District 11, covering Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Baie-D’Urfé, Ste-Anne de Bellevue and Senneville, before moving on to Rosemont. He was promoted to the position of sergeant in Côte-des-Neiges and then reassigned to downtown Montréal as a lieutenant in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. He later became a commander with the Vigie des pratiques policières at police headquarters.
In summer 2010, he was in charge of the Brigade Urbaine, a unit made up of police cadets, bicycle police and members of the cavalry who focus specifically on crowd control services during summer festivals and events.
With a certificate in industrial relations from the Université de Montréal, Martin Dea is a dynamic manager who has extensive experience with the realities of Montréal, having been involved in some highly complex situations, including the Dawson College shooting.
Commandant Dea is pleased to be returning to his career roots in Pointe-Claire and Dorval, and to be joining a highly professional team that has a close working relationship with the residents in these remarkable areas.
