Commandant Michelle Lacoursière
Commandant Michelle Lacoursière is a native Montrealer who grew up in Ahuntsic. She is an SPVM pioneer, as one of the first ten policewomen hired by the service.
Ms. Lacoursière began her service with the SPVM in the St-Michel district, and then spent a good part of her career on the beat in the neighbourhood of Côte-des-Neiges. "Frontline work is very gratifying, because we are really working to serve the public," she explains. Over the years, she has also had the opportunity to develop her expertise in morality. Commandant Lacoursière is part of the SPVM Division planification et orientations stratégiques, and she helped write the document that defines our neighbourhood policing model.
Having served as commander for over ten years in Pierrefonds/Roxboro and St-Laurent, she is now facing a new challenge as a commander in Ville de Dollard-des-Ormeaux. "My objectives are to offer the residents a great quality of life, to keep the crime rate down, and to create a harmonious work environment so our police officers can develop their full potential within the service."
