The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal's Module des relations médias provides a service that is unique in North America. Our agents relationnistes are on the job 24/7, all year long.

They patrol the entire territory of the island of Montréal and rapidly make their way to locations where various incidents occur, in order to efficiently gather relevant information. This allows them to be available to answer questions from journalists and other media representatives, day or night.

• Every year the SPVM's agents relationnistes are onsite at about 1000 major incidents, including crime scenes, demonstrations and other significant events.
• Because of the high number of incidents they cover, the SPVM's agents relationnistes also grant about 3000 interviews to the news media each year and answer over 25,000 phone calls from journalists.

The SPVM's Module des relations médias is comprised of an inspecteur-chef, who is the head of the Division des communications, a sergent, who oversees the agents relationnistes, six agents relationnistes, and two civilian chargées de communication.

The professional media can get a fast response to their queries by dialling 514-280-2777 or 514-280-2015 or emailing relations.medias@spvm.qc.ca, depending on the nature of their request.

Three means of communication:

514-280-2777 - At this number, journalists can obtain information about recent events in the city of Montréal. Major or ongoing events are explained in a message that the agents relationnistes update regularly throughout the day. To speak to the agent relationniste on duty, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, just dial 0.

relations.medias@spvm.qc.ca  - All other requests for information, interviews, statistics or filming must be sent to this address. The Relations médias chargées de communication can handle these requests quickly and effectively if the following information is included:

• specific subject;
• deadline;
• contact information for the journalist;
• if an interview is requested, the length and location should also be indicated.

The chargées de communication will process the requests between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

514-280-2015 - At this number, media representatives can speak to the chargées de communication to follow up on written requests or for other matters. They are available from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

	Ian Lafrenière, Sergent Responsable Module relations médias. Phone: 514 280-2489 ian.lafreniere@spvm.qc.ca Sgt. Lafrenière joined the SPVM in 1994 and has been working in media relations since 1996. In 2005 he became the superviseur of the Module des relations médias, and has been the coordinator of the Module des relations médias since 2007.

	Daniel Lacoursière Agent relationniste médias Phone: 514 280-2496 daniel.lacoursière@spvm.qc.ca In the service of the SPVM since August 1989, Mr. Lacoursière officially joined the Module des relations médias in March 2009, after working there as a replacement public relations officer for 2 years.
